Insecure Writer's Support Group

It's the BIG month of April and everyone is blogging A-Z. I didn't join the challenge this year (for quite a few reasons) and I do miss it, but it was the right decision.

Today is the first Wednesday of the month and so it's time for another IWSG (Insecure Writer's Support Group) post. Every month writers post their doubts, concerns and insecurities without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Others offer assistance and guidance in the comments. Thank you to our host Captain Ninja Alex J. Cavanaugh.

For a full list of participants click here and hop on over to offer your own words of encouragement and/or assistance.

My concern this month:

I finished writing another novel yesterday. It's sitting on my desktop, nicely tucked away, waiting there for me to get some distance before I go and re-read it and re-work it.

For the next two weeks I feel like I'm stuck in an oblivion. I have another novel to do edits on, and another one 3/4 done. Yet, that one that I'm waiting to read through is calling out and testing my patience. Perhaps it's because deep inside I know it needs work. I know it's not the best work I've done and there's so much to improve on. How do I let it wait and concentrate on my other work? It's only two weeks (and I really need to be away from it).

A piece of encouragement/inspiration for others:

We often feel like there's not enough time to do everything we want. I'd like you to meet Michelle at That Girl With Her Nose in A Book. If you have a moment, please stop by to say hello to this young blogger.

I met Michelle when she was about 4 years old, so it's been a while. If you read through her blog you'll immediately be drawn to this passionate YA reader and reviewer. She lives and breathes books and I'm so proud to know her. Over the past few days I've seen her work on her blog like I haven't seen anyone else.

This past Saturday when our family gathered for Easter I mentioned the A-Z Challenge - and what did Michelle do? She signed up!

Still in grade school, I'm pretty sure she's one of the youngest participants in the A-Z Challenge. I'm amazed at the number of books she devours, her passion and dedication to reading. Michelle, you truly are an inspiration and please know I will always support your love for reading.

Do you find yourself torn between projects? What are your insecurities this month? Do you feel inspired by Michelle?

I would go with the novel you feel most passionate about - if you started on the other one for practical reasons, you'd probably be thinking about the first one anyway!

Popping over to check out Michelle's blog.

My insecurity this month is my time for blogging. And I didn't do the A to Z thing either. Too much on my plate.

Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly

Oh wow! Thanks for pointing her out to us.
And I always dive in right away on editing because by the time I finish the first draft, I've forgotten the beginning.

I want to thank you for visiting my blog today. Really enjoyed this post. Sounds like you've got a lot going on creatively. Congratulations on finishing another novel! What an achievement. I've still got to finish my first lol. Michelle sounds amazing. I'll have to give her blog a look. :)

I just finished one project last week and I have to get the other written by the end of the month. I have no recoup time! Boo.

Good luck keeping your distance from you ms! It's fun to have one you can't wait to go back to, though, isn't it?
I can't wait to go meet your friend!

Torn between projects? All of the time. As soon as I really start reworking something, another story starts calling out to me.

Wonderful story about Michelle. I'll have to go check her out.

All the best for the edits! :)

Well done having so many projects on the go, but I can sympathize. Get your editing done first and then go back to your novel so that you can look at it with calm and new eyes. I seem to be only able to work on one thing at a time (I've got a horrible feeling I'm one of those people who can't walk and talk at the same time!)

I have to go to school now, but my heart is pounding and full of happiness about what you wrote about me! I'm so happy that your 39000 blog visitors can find out about me! I bet you some already have! :)
Most importantly, I want to say thank you so much, everything's because of you! I would've been that blogger with 30 views without you! Now I'm rolling with 350 and I bet everyone's is with your help. I love doing the A-Z Challenge, it makes me have something to look forward to each day! You're my other inspiration, right beside John Green. ;)

You're the best, Marta! See you on Saturday! :D

I'm inspired by both you (you finished yet another novel; I'm in awe!) and Michelle. She's a brave, bright soul. I'm going to go pay a visit. Thank you.

I do find myself torn between projects, mostly writing vs. editing, but I've also got a bunch of stories I want to be writing, and I try to keep it to one at a time.

I'll go check out Michelle's blog. Good luck to her! I'm glad she joined.

I've pretty much always been a one project at a time guy, and after reading your dilemma, I'm glad I am! :)
