D = Danger at IWSG

D is for Danger (tying A-Z Challenge with IWSG)

Danger (n): liability or exposure to harm or injury; risk; peril

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time.

Is it dangerous to dream big? I do all the time and find myself facing dangerous disappointment.
As a writer, I face these dangers which lead to insecurities:

* comparing myself to others
* having high expectations
* letting distractions rule my writing time (ie: internet)

But I am a dreamer. This is one of my favorite songs ever by Ozzy Osbourne. When I feel danger as a writer I listen to this song to remind myself it's all right to dream. I understand the song is not about danger (well, to a degree I can argue it is), but for me Ozzy's music puts everything in perspective.

Do you have a song which keeps you grounded, away from danger? Does the song wash away your insecurities?

This is a blog hop. Click here for the linky list:) Happy Hopping!

Yep, it's good to dream, especially for us writers.

dreaming and hoping is my way through--thanks for the post!

We have to remind ourselves those dangers aren't why we started writing in the first place.
And thank you, Marta - you have participated in every single posting of the IWSG and I appreciate it.

Danger and dreams are what make life worth living.

'Life is not tried, it is merely survived, if you're standing outside the fire.' Garth Brooks

Take a minute go to YouTube - 'Standing Outside the Fire' by Garth Brooks. Similar message, different genre.

Too many songs to list! Music keeps me going, like other wonderful authors who inspire me, such as yourself.

Schweet post my dear. I love the song, hadn't heard it before. And don't let dreaming big be the source of your fear of disappointment. Dreaming big pushes us to accomplish those dreams. :)

And I think I noticed every single D I used. Thanks for that, lol.

Great post when I think of danger especially in writing it is the combination of a couple of emotions as it can be thrilling like riding a giant rollercoaster, and scary all at the same time. I love reading stories that are both. Thanks for sharing:)

Dreaming big is the point of life! Without dreams, what's the point! there's nothing dangerous in that.

Dreaming big is important. Sure, you may not reach the dreams, but it inspires us to do more, to try.

I'd never heard this song before. Love it! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting.

There's a song by Stream of Passion called "Passion." It was also the theme song for the main character in my fifth YA book. It keeps me moving forward.

If you don't dream big, what's the point?

Nice song--never heard it before. I guess no particular song comes to mind for me.

The bigger your dream the higher you must climb to attain it. The higher you climb, the more you can see.

Probably the best of Ozzie's songs. Without dreams there are so many thing we wouldn't have, things that began as... dreams.

I think it's always okay to dream big. There is nothing to look forward to if we don't have a dream.

I love this song!! And I'm a dreamer too...I can get lost in my dreams--yes even when I dream big--and sometimes find myself disappointed--but another dream comes along and I'm swept away.

Lovely blog..I'm seeing a lot of the Insecure Writer Support Group blogs-- I must learn more about this group :)

Cheers, Jenn
