G = Games

G is for Games
(Theme: Changes through history)

Game (n): 1.an amusement or pastime: children's games.

As a kid, these were the games I played (dodgeball).

When we didn't have a ball we used mud and...

...sticks - Fun times!

As I grew up and my parents immigrated to Canada, we found out there was a thing called Board Games.

This was the first computer game I played :)

And now, kids have so many choices (and adults):

Perhaps too many choices? Are we limiting our children's imagination?

Do you have a favorite childhood game? When was the last time you played it?

The first game I remember playing is Kings on the Corner, a card game my grandpa taught me. My family is a huge game family. Board games, card games, puzzles, games we make up like farm golf. You name it and we will play it. I think if the only game we introduce to our kids is an electronic one than yes we are limiting their imagination.

I can't remember the first game I ever played but I really liked hide-and-go-seek and dodge ball.

I don't think technology has limited imagination, just changed it.
I remember playing jacks, spit (card game), and making up games with a ball.
I taught my kids spit and I am still the QUEEN!

I played board games, Barbies, and *gasp* PRETEND. You know...I'd make believe that I was on some adventure.

I loved Atari. My kids LOVE playing Chess. It is cute.

I grew up playing many games, but my favorite might be the epic Scrabble battles I had with my sister. Yeah, no one else will play with either of us these days, because of the walloping. (Figurative walloping, of course. We beat our opponents, but not literally.)

The games used to be almost constant, but now that we're in different states, we only let the tiles fly about once a year.

Oh Dodgeball. So many memories. So many bruises... never played it with mud or sticks though.

My siblings and I played a lot of board games (yay, Scrabble!). And Atari, of course.

Hours and hours of hopscotch with my friends.

Board games I remember are Sorry and Othello.

Pong! My brother and I played that all the time when we were kids.
I've always enjoyed board games. And trivia games - especially movies and music.

I hated dodgeball and wasn't much better at tether ball. Hopscotch, though, and four square -- I was good at those! Even passable at jump rope, though I couldn't double-dutch.

Love games, all kinds.

Limiting kids' imaginations? We are developing their thumbs!

When considering that everything in moderation is key, I don't think that we are limiting our children's imagination...that is, if we keep a healthy balance between all sorts of activities including board games and outdoor activities such as playing TAG, rock climbing, building sand castles, etc.

My favorite childhood board game was Monopoly while my favorite childhood hand game was "Numbers." You could play both games as many times as you wanted.

The last time that I played these games was probably several years ago when I was a teenager. I've only place card games such as Uno and My Word and video games such as Tekken, Mortal Kombatt and Super Mario Bros. more recently.

Dodgeball with mud?! Wow! You were hardcore!

I loved just riding bikes and making up games with friends and siblings! But for games people know, HORSE with the basketball was a big one.

Hello Marta.
Interesting to see you used Scrabble as one of your images, probably my favorite game.
I'll be playing a few board games today with a friend of mine, he's one of those board game geeks.
Games that encourage interaction with family members are cool. My step son sits in front of his computer from dawn till almost dawn playing computer games with people he has never met. He's now nearly thirty years old and has never been on a date or even a pub crawl.
Me, I like board games and games where you play with real people.
Good blog theme, I'm enjoying all your posts so far.
Blessings, Geoff.

I loved playing Dungeons and Dragons as a kid. Still do in fact!
Played it with my two sons last weekend.

I am trying to read all the A to Z blogs, but coming back to the ones I really like.
Looking forward to seeing what you do all month!
