T = Trains

T is for Trains
(A-Z Theme: Changes through history)

Train (n): 1.Railroads . a self-propelled, connected group of rolling stock.
2. a line or procession of persons, vehicles, animals, etc., traveling together.

Trains have been an important means of transportation and communication. For the past few decades, they have also been used for entertainment and leisure purposes. While there are many types and shapes, following are a few I found on the web (there are hundreds).

As you know, I hate flying and have a big fear of boarding a plane. I also despise trains. Not as much as planes, but it's a fear that stems from remembering my great-grandfather with his legs cut off at his knees because he fell onto train tracks (a long, long time ago).

I remember him walking on his stumps when I was little.

We have these green trains in Toronto.

I must say, as much as I don't like trains, I really enjoyed the monorail in Disney. Pretty cool.

Do you like riding on the train? Would you prefer the old steam kind, or an electric one if you had a choice?

My boys love trains. I thought I'd prefer trains for my mode of transportation. I mean, like you said, the Disney Monorail is so cool. Unfortunately, I rode an Amtrack from Miami to Tampa once. The WORST travel experience of my life. SOOO loud and dirty and the AC didn't work. Ugh. Never been on another Amtrack train.

Steam train every time for me. Isn't it funny that kids still say 'choo-choo' when talking about trains even though trains haven't said that for a long time?

I'd love to travel on the Orient Express.

I've never been on a train:( I recently just saw Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train - that's the kind I'd like to ride on.

I've never been on one, but I'd like to someday.

Terrible your grandfather lost his legs!
I've always wanted to take a train ride across Canada.

Oh wow, that's a horrible thing to happen! I'd be terrified of trains too.

That's why I dig the Back to the Future Train. It can fly and it'll just disappear when it gets going too fast. :)

I was walking home today thinking about trains, how about that.
I love traveling by train, even the ones around Cape Town that take you into the city. Not during rush hour though, too crowded. Long distance trips by train, say from Cape Town to Lusaka in Zambia are so magical and relaxing. No cell phone reception for most of the time, no television, just lots of time to relax and read a good book or two. Trains, planes, boats, I love traveling any way it comes.
Blessings, Geoff.

I've always liked trains. The steam trains are kind of fun but they can also be kind of messy if they're burning coal and spitting cinders that blow back onto the cars.

Did you see my post about the Tu-Lane Truckstop? It used to be not too far from where you are I believe.
