W = Weather

W is for Weather
(A-Z Theme: changes through history)

Weather (n): 1. the state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc.

My favourite weather is of the warmer kind and the only reason I tolerate winter and the cold is because of skiing, so as much as I don't like the cold, I tolerate it because of my love for skiing. Now, the best kind of weather is skiing on beautiful hills in short sleeves. Yes, I've done it, and got a sun tan. The crisp air while the glow of the sun warms your face is the best feeling in the world.

Here are some weather photos to enjoy. (All from google - I did not take these):

We get similar lightning strikes near the forest behind our house. The entire neighborhood shakes.

I have lived through a few snow storms like this one. Coolest thing when you're a kid!

I love rain clouds and the sound of rain on a tent when camping.

Doesn't this photo make you feel little? It does for me (small font intended).

I've seen a few of these types of clouds from an airplane. Did I ever mention I hate to fly?
Now, I've never seen a tornado. I have seen a funnel cloud 2 years ago. But, when we drove to Florida in December the twisted trees along the highway in Georgia amazed me. You don't know the power of these things until you see their destruction.

I took this photo of a sunset at Lake Huron, Ontario.

Does some weather scare you? Do you have a favourite type of weather? Have you seen a tornado?

Wow - those clouds are dramatic. We don't get so much variation in the UK. We can get a lot of wind, which is quite scary. We've had lots of rain which was scary driving in yesterday (well, being a passenger in, I don't drive).

We also get lots of grey dull non-weather days. Have you ever just not seemed to have weather?

I don't like humidity so give me the cold and the snow anytime. And I have seen a tornado when I lived in the midwest. We watched it move across a field. Very surreal.

I grew up in Florida, so I've seen many water spouts and tornadoes. One time, we were on our dive boat and one came out of nowhere, it split into two, then four. Our boat conked out and the Coast Guard said it was too dangerous to rescue us...
True story.

I love thunderstorms when I don't have to go out in them.

Those are some amazing pictures. We used to get some of those big snowstorms when I lived near Chicago, but I was a kid then and didn't mind it that much. Our weather here in Los Angeles is great, but it doesn't change all that drastically.

Hi Marta, thanks again for stopping by my blog! I've been out this evening so I haven't replied at blogs much today. I thought I would do one tonight and so I'm visiting you first. Your weather post is very interesting. So many variations in different areas of the world. The twisters must be absolutely terrifying.
The most interesting weather I've experienced has been torrential downpour in Mexico one New Years' Eve. The rain was coming down in buckets but we were under a palapa roof and open to the outside, but the evening was great nonetheless with few of the usual dramatics you find at parties of over-indulgers: very interesting let me tell you! (My husband and I aren't big drinkers, so it wasn't us; we just the observers.) I've never experienced rain like that! I hope you've enjoyed the A-Z, I know I have! So nice to meet and talk to really nice people too. Best wishes to you, MoonWynd

Gorgeous photos! I love warm summer (without humidity). I adore rain and thunderstorms, and wind always brings a smile to my face. Not so wild about the snow. Never seen a tornado -- and I'd rather not, given how unpredictable they're supposed to be.
