Getting nervous at IWSG

Today is the first Wednesday of the month and so it's time for another IWSG (Insecure Writer's Support Group) post.  Thank you to our host Captain Ninja Alex J. Cavanaugh.

For a full list of participants click
here and hop on over to offer your own words of encouragement and/or assistance.

Purpose:
To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writers.

If you still have questions about the group, Alex did a great post on Monday at Tossing It Out, so do check it out.

The past couple of months have been a roller coaster of emotions and hard work. We've lost two friends too early (35 and 37 years old ) which put a lot of things in perspective, but I don't think I'm ready to go into more details on that. I want to stay happy and positive, because of a promise. And I will.

So, I have my pre-release nerves all set and ready. But they're good, happy and excited nerves. Before the end of July a new novel under a different name will be uploaded and this time I've done things differently which is bringing up all those emotions. Because I know, deep down, successful novels, even with good reviews, still take a bit of luck. And that is  out of my control.

I've sent out almost 100 review / feature / interview requests ahead of time and the response has been amazing and positive. I'm so grateful to all the dedicated bloggers who host authors and help them spread the word.

So, the pressure is on, but it's good kind of pressure because I really love this book and the effects it has on me when I read it.

Is there a way to increase that luck? Have I done enough? What are your insecurities this month?

Congratulations on the responses. Writing under a different name must bring a whole new set of problems. But I'm intrigued :-)

I am so sorry for your loss.
That's a lot of review requests!
If you've done everything you can, then don't worry. Yes, the luck part sucks, but I do think we can influence that luck a little bit.

Sounds like you've done everything you can to influence the 'luck factor'. Keep up the hope and positive thoughts. Oh and, Good Luck!

Gongrats on the responses! I heard this advice: "Do everything you know to do and then write the next book."

Hi! I'm new to the IWSG.

A big percentage of luck comes from making opportunities. Sounds like you've done all you can :)

I'm excited for you. It sounds like you're in a great place, as an author.

So sorry for your losses. Seems life keeps slamming us with reminders of how fragile it is.

Take good care.

That is way too young. Sorry to hear of your loss. Every day is a gift. People need to be appreciated while they are still with us.
